Lola Cerise is a French DJ based in Paris, who was born into a family of creatives — her mother was a classical musician, and her uncle a chief orchestra conductor who worked with artists like Mstislav Rostropovich. Ironically, it was also her mother — who had herself dropped out of classical music school and ed ’s early techno scene — who ed Lola’s eventual career pivot into music. At 18, Lola moved to Lyon to study art and pursued photography professionally. She later dropped out of university, ing herself by modeling for brands like A.P.C., Eric Tibusch, and Silvian Heach. After a few years, she realized photography wasn’t her calling and relocated to Australia, where she spent three years. During the pandemic, she reconnected with rave culture and began DJing — picking up professional gear from closing clubs. Within a year, she started producing and made a bold decision: to leave everything behind and start over in Paris, dedicating herself fully to music. Lola Cerise has since released on Gomboc Records, Comme des les Films, Khazad Records, and Record Union. ed by the likes of Indira Paganotto, I Hate Models, and Cera Khin, she also landed a residency at the legendary Gotec Club and launched her own label, First Date Without Panties. Lola’s music is a reflection of all her experiences — sometimes fast and intense, other times emotive and layered, but always with a narrative. Her mantra: “If it doesn’t make me smile, then I won’t finish it.”

Ramon Tapia | True Techno Podcast 24
Episodio en TRUE TECHNO PODCAST
Ramon Tapia was born and raised in Holland, and followed in his father’s footsteps in his teenage years when he began producing. His mother met his father some years after he escaped from Pinochet’s Chile, where his own music had incensed the military government and made him a cultural dissident. Ramon’s youth was thankfully not as turbulent nor dangerous, with the young talent brought up on a musical diet that was incendiary in its own way: Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Kraftwerk, Front 242, and the early pioneers of Detroit techno. His two older sisters played a key part in his musical formation, sparking his imagination with tales of dance floor epiphanies upon their return from clubs of the country’s heyday. Once bitten by the techno bug, Ramon moved to Belgium’s scene capital, Antwerp, to study as a jeweler and diamond cutter. It was a part-time job in a record shop that helped to decide his destiny, however. He began producing tracks with a colleague, and slowly learned to produce solo. After a fruitful period producing much tougher techno, a resurgent Ramon Tapia began to find fame under his new moniker in the late 2000s on labels like Herzblut, Craft and Yellow Tail, forging a new school techno sound that blended the slower, sexier sounds of the contemporary vibe with his schooling in the genre from the past few decades. In 2010 he mixed a compilation for New York’s legendary Strictly Rhythm, plundering their back catalogue for a full mix of new interpretations by him and various collaborators. This marked the biggest turning point in his career, catapulting him onto the world stage. “It was a great opportunity and made me grow in a lot of aspects.” he says. The cream of Holland’s techno scene soon followed suit, with his worked snapped up by 2000 And One’s Remote Area and 100% Pure, Shinedoe’s Intacto and Secret Cinema’s Gem Records and further afield by ’s Great Stuff and Tiga’s Turbo. Remixes for Paul Weller, Armand van Helden, Nic Fanciulli, Marc Romboy, Monika Kruse, Mauro Picotto, DJ Sneak and Umek and many others came. Eventually in 2012 he set up his own labels, Say What? Recordings and collaboration label Aella Music (which he runs together with Hermanez) to proliferate his sound further. With tinges of his Latin background lacing his percussion sections and his Dutch/Belgian heritage providing the basis for his hard-grooving techno template, his sound is one that mixes organic, tribal rhythm and syncopation and electronic machinations to potent effect. Ramon Tapia is a humble man enjoying his dream job. He just wants to carry on doing what he does best with no hyperbole, egomania or bullshit: rocking dancefloors and releasing infallible grooves. “I want to take Say What? Recordings to the next level, do some big collabs, just enjoy my work and let the music I make and DJ speak.”

MAIKE DEPAS | True Techno Podcast 82
Episodio en TRUE TECHNO PODCAST
Italian hard techno DJ and producer MAIKE DEPAS (Michelangelo De Pasquale) is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting talents coming out of Italy. Drawing from a decade of experience and a sound that merges 90s rave, hard techno, and psy-trance, Depas has redefined his artistic vision in 2024, earning recognition from DJ Mag Italia, Mixmag , and FAZE as a rising star in the global scene. A real talent, classically trained as a musician, studying composition and piano at the Milan Conservatory, Depas blends technical precision with raw, boundary-pushing energy. His recent audio-visual relaunch has brought his dystopian aesthetic to life, highlighted by a live set at Berlin’s Teufelsberg, shooting with cyberpunk designer Demobaza, and collaborating with the likes of Amstra, Mattia Trani, and Matasism. In the past year, Depas has released a series of EPs under Mattia Trani’s Pushmaster Discs, including ‘Tokyo Nights’ and the most recent ‘Circle of Life’, which dropped Oct. 11. These innovations culminate in his forthcoming EP ‘Sexy Devil Horse’, releasing Dec. 12 on his own label, The Innovation Studio Records. His 10-track collection showcases collaborations with iconic artists like Luca Agnelli, OGUZ, and Michael Katana, as well as rising stars CHRS and Gianni Di Bernardo. With the momentum of 2024 under his wings, ‘Sexy Devil Horse’ marks a defining moment in Depas’ career and solidifies his place among the new generation of hard techno visionaries.

STAY WEIRD. Actualizado
