Shelley Puhak reads Portrait of the Artist as an Artist. Shelley Puhak is a poet and writer from Maryland. Her essays and articles have appeared in publications like The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, and Virginia Quarterly Review; been anthologized in Best American Travel Writing; and designated as Notable in four editions of Best American Essays. She’s researched and written about everything from Soviet purges to marginalized medieval queens. The latter is the topic of her nonfiction debut, The Dark Queens (Bloomsbury 2022). ​ ​Shelley is also the author of three award-winning books of poetry. The most recent is Harbinger, a National Poetry Series selection (Ecco/HarperCollins 2022). Her poetry has appeared in journals such as Cincinnati Review, Missouri Review, Shenandoah, and Verse Daily and been awarded the Anthony Hecht Prize, the Towson Prize for Literature, and two Maryland State Arts Council grants. Sherry Shenoda reads a recent poem from her book Mummy Easter is an American poet and pediatrician, born in Cairo, and living in California. Her work is at the intersection of human rights and child health. She is Regents Professor at the University of New Mexico and Associate Chair of the Department of English. She lives in Albuquerque with her family, in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. Thiel has traveled and lived in Europe, South America, Asia, and Australia, working on literary and environmental projects.

Kemi Alabi reads Voice Clear As Kemi Alabi Born in Wisconsin in 1990, Kemi Alabi earned their BA in philosophy and political science from Boston University. Their first full-length poetry collection, Against Heaven (Graywolf Press, 2022), was selected by Claudia Rankine to receive the 2021 Academy of American Poets First Book Award. She is the author of the poetry collection The Symmetry of Fish (Penguin, 2022) which was a winner of the National Poetry Series. Her work has appeared in places like The Best American Poetry 2021, Best New Poets 2021, and They Rise Like a Wave: An Anthology of Asian American Women Poets. Victoria Redel reads three poems from her book; Paradise Victoria Redel is a first-generation American author of four books of poetry and five books of fiction, most recently Paradise (2022) and the novel Before Everything. Victoria’s work has been widely anthologized, awarded, and translated in ten languages. Her debut novel, Loverboy (2001) was adapted for feature film directed by Kevin Bacon. Redel’s short stories, poetry and essays have appeared in Granta, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Bomb, One Story, Salmagundi, O and NOON among many others. She has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, The National Endowment for the Arts and the Fine Arts Work Center. Victoria is a professor in the graduate and undergraduate Creative Writing programs at Sarah Lawrence College and lives in New York City.
